Oklahoma Cowpunk
The band pummels through an exhilarating live show that captures the audience from the first burst of piercing vocals to the last notes of their deep-rooted sound. Combining a drummer baptized in punk rock, raucous lap steel, swinging doghouse bass, gritty but melodic guitar and the feverish conviction of its vocalist, Red Eye Gravy will have you believing the Grand Ole Opry was just set on fire and burned to the ground. Whether playing original songs, traditionals, or the occasional cover, this band will deliver an unparalleled show.
Red Eye Gravy has performed in venues across Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado and Missouri, and has shared the stage with such acts as: Billy Joe Shaver, Junior Brown, Wayne 'The Train' Hancock, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Brandon Jenkins, The Red Dirt Rangers, Jackson Taylor Band, Randy Crouch and Travis Linville. The band was apart of the Country Fever Festival in 2009 in Pryor, OK and The UMS in Denver, CO. Joshua was also asked to represent REG solo as an opening act for Scott H. Biram.
The band just released their full-length debut album in 2008 and has received great reviews. The CD is being labeled as truly something different to come out of Oklahoma. The band will have soon finished writing the follow-up record "Dustbowl Hangover." set for release in 2011.
A year ago I made my way out to the Blue Note for a friend’s birthday. Truth be told, I didn’t really even like the birthday boy but they have a shot and beer special for 5 dollars, so I figured the night couldn’t be a total loss. After my fifth Soco and lime a group called Red Eye Gravy walked up on the stage and played a style of music that could only be described as Honky Tonk on crack. Every country stereotype imaginable is embodied in Red Eye Gravy. Their music makes you want to chug a liter of moonshine, take a giant dump on the bar and walk across the street to get a Tweety Bird tattoo.

Red Eye Gravy is a true cowpunk band from the ashes of Woody Guthrie.
